PLIB offers Cross-Laminated Timber (CLT) certification, required for use of CLT in structural applications in the United States and Canada, to CLT and other mass timber panel producers throughout our operating regions. This certification protocol meets the requirements of PRG 320-2019: Standard for Performance rated Cross-Laminated Timber and can be applied to mass-timber panels made from solid-sawn lumber or structural composite lumber. The 2019 version of the standard was issued in January 2020.
PLIB is accredited (view certificate) for CLT certification by International Accreditation Service, Inc. (IAS) as a third-party auditing agency for cross-laminated timber (CLT). IAS is a nonprofit, public-benefit corporation and a subsidiary of the International Code Council (ICC), the governing body that develops the International Building Code (IBC).
Certification for U.S. market production involves plant pre-qualification as well as testing for mechanical properties and adhesive testing which must be conducted by an approved testing agency. Certified producers must establish quality control procedures and submit to periodic, unannounced plant inspections and quality assurance audits.
